This full-day experience begins with scenic views along Highway 24 and includes an interpretive ride through the valley floor, entry to the Colorado Snowsports Museum & Hall of Fame, and a whiskey tasting at 10th Mountain Whiskey Company. Join us on an adventure to visit one of the major sources of Denver’s water supply. Learn about the largest dam in Colorado and how water is transported from the High Rockies to the Front Range. Drive to the top of the dam and walk across it for incredible views of Homestake Reservoir. We’ll check out early-season runoff and the massive tunnels carved into the mountain that feed water into the reservoir each spring. The tour continues to the base of the dam, where we’ll view the spillway and drain valve. If we’re lucky, the valve may be open—releasing thousands of gallons of water per minute. This is a true hidden gem of Eagle County and the High Country.
What’s Included
Explore Avon and Edwards like a local on this scenic backroad tour. This route offers stunning views of the Eagle River, Beaver Creek, Arrowhead, and Edwards. Along the way, guests will see the remains of vehicles from drivers who were a little too adventurous—their cars are still visible off the road. We’ll also stop to check out June Creek and Berry Creek, two popular local tributaries of the Eagle River.
What’s Included
Step back in time with a visit to the historic mining town of Fulford. Once a key stop between Leadville and Eagle, Fulford boomed in the late 1800s after rich mineral deposits were discovered. When the mine eventually ran dry—and radiation exposure increased—the town was abandoned. Today, approximately 20 historic structures remain, some still occupied year-round. Guests will explore the townsite and hike a short distance to view the entrance of the old mine shaft.
